Ty'n Rhyd

Ty'n Rhyd provides a perfect base from which to explore the 'best of the rest' of North Wales. We suggest the following as enjoyable day trips out:

CRICCIETH
Is an attractive, well kept, sleepy seaside town with a castle, small beach, tearooms and variety of interesting local shops. We like exploring the back roads and having a late 'breakfast' in one of the beachfront cafes - there is a quality feel to this small town.

PORTHMADOG
A busier seaside town than Criccieth, and you can board the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway here, whichchugs past woods, lakes, waterfalls and the meadows of Snowdonia National Park.

PORTMEIRION
An Italianate village across the causeway from Porthmadoc, which lies in sub-tropical gardens. Built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis it was the iconic setting for the famous 1960s cult TV series, The Prisoner. An unmissable family day out, wandering around the fairytale village streets and houses, browsing the world-famous pottery, and perhaps finishing off with a drink in the elegant Portmeirion Hotel.

CAERNARFON CASTLE/BEAUMARIS
The stunning Castle, begun in 1283, is just a one-hour drive away. Visit the historic town and harbour too.
If time permits, cross Telford's famous Suspension Bridge over the Menai Straits to the Isle of Anglesey, where the town of Beaumaris and its castle are well worth a visit.
